New blog: New Eyes on …

Book being read: My own! I have completely drafted my book on Great Battles of the Ancient Greeks and I am currently proofreading it to within an inch of its life!

In other news I have just started a blog series for the charity the IRIS Project, via their website IRIS online. My brief was to create a blog series that was light-hearted, but informative, aimed at an audience which spans from school aged students, to people older than my Grandma!

To that end, I came up with the idea of discussing topics that affect us in the modern day, which the ancient world also found time to discuss. So once a month I will be blogging via their site about anything and everything that we share in common with the ancient world. Some blogs will emphasise how similar we are, how unoriginal our ideas and beliefs are, while others will be exploring just how different and alien the ancient world is to our own.

My first blog needed to tie in, in some way, with the overarching theme of the site at the moment (the Roman invasion of Britain). So, I took the opportunity to break the heroic tales of battle with a reality check for readers. Frequent readers here will be unsurprised to hear I wrote the blog on combat trauma.

Right, back to proof reading!
